A number of the band members including Wayne, Tania, Ashley and Craig have recently taken to the sport/hobby/past time of #geocaching.

Geocaching is clearly defined here:

There are many different types of caches to be found including including Traditional’s, Multi’s, Events and Mystery Caches.

What on earth is this you might say? I’d say – where on earth is it?

Happy caching!

Need a band for your event?

Whether it’s a wedding, funeral, corporate event or party, 1 Med Pipe Band has a repertoire to cater for it.

Specialising in weddings,  we offer scalable options to make your event unique and customise it to your requirements:

Options available:

  • Single piper, Duet or Quartet of pipers Our pipers are among the best in the country and will add an atmosphere to your event unlike any other.
  • Mini Band A handful of players to suit smaller venues and budgets
  • Full Pipe Band The full band comprises pipers and drummers from our Grade 2 and Grade 4 competition bands which have played competitions and shows across the globe.
  • Drum Corps (The drum corps has performed at Events like the Lourie Advertising Awards alongside Freshly Ground, Corporate Events and Shows like the Ushaka Dolphins by Starlight)

Typical wedding format (as an example – this can be customised):

A quartet of pipers or mini band can run through a selection of tunes prior to the arrival of the wedding party. In some instances the bride wants to keep her arrival to the sound of pipes a surprise in which case our pipers are well trained in the art of urban camouflage and subtlety.

The brides maids and bride arrive and can be piped down the aisle, typically to 2 different tunes.

Some suggested tunes include: Highland wedding, Highland Cathedral, Flower of Scotland, Pachelbel’s Canon (requires a quartet).

A piper can play during the signing of the register and then typically as the newly weds leave the church.

Some suggested tunes include: Love Changes Everything, Amazing Grace, Scotland the Brave, Kelsey’s Wee Reel, The Black Bear

After the newly-weds have left the church, the band (Mini or Full) can play outside the venue a selection of tunes while the guests enjoy refreshments.

At the reception:

The band can play the couple/bridal party into the venue and at stages through the evening another tune set can be played.

Please include the date and venue of your wedding with as much detail as possible to allow us to provide you with the best service possible.
